Visa

• WHAT IS VISA
A "visa" grants permission to enter a foreign country. Ordinarily this is signified by a stamp in the traveler’s passport. In Malaysia, the final permission to enter the country is based on the decision of the Immigration Officer at the point of entry.
• WHERE TO OBTAIN A VISA
Application for a visa can be made at any Immigration Attaché Office, Consulate, Malaysian High Commission Office, and Malaysian Embassy or at the British Consulate in a country where there is no Malaysian Representative Office.
• HOW TO OBTAIN A VISA
A visa must be obtained BEFORE a person enters Malaysia by self representation at the visa issuing office. Documents required for a visa application are as follows:

A valid Passport (not less than 6 months)
2.
3 Copies of IM.38 form (could be obtained at the Malaysian Embassy / High Commission Office / British Consulate)
3.
3 passport sized photographs
4.
Airline ticket to Malaysia: -
 
Proof of financial ability,
Offer letter of admission
Approval letter for foreign students to study in Malaysia issued by the Immigration Department of Malaysia (processed by IO)
Visa Fee (according to country)
Students from The People's Republic of China and Commonwealth Independent States who wish to study in Institutions of Higher Learning in Malaysia are required to obtain prior consent from the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia and the Immigration Department of Malaysia.
 The documents required for visa are:
 
Form BTK - 100
2 passport sized photographs
2 copies of student's passport
2 copies of academic transcrip
The above application process will be done by IO. Upon receiving the approval letter, students are advised to apply for a visa from the Malaysian Embassy before entering Malaysia. Students from some African countries (refer to list), Bangladesh, Pakistan and India are required to obtain approval letter from the Immigration Department of Malaysia for visa application before entering Malaysia.
Yellow fever injection is compulsory for students from some African countries for entrance to Malaysia. At the point of entry, students have to present their injection certification as evidence.
