CLHD is a centre committed to the development of Human Technology Interaction which is one of the four core focus areas of the University. Thus, PBPI supports the Advanced Manufacturing Technology niche, a strategic focus of the University. It has been the University’s vision to be one of the leading technical universities in the world. In this respect, the Dean has spelt out a strategic-focused transformation direction for the  Centre.  

There are four departments  at the Centre for Languages and Human Development (CLHD), namely the Department of Languages, Department of Human Development, Department of Islamic Studies and Humanities and Department of Co-curriculum Education. CLHD plays an important role in educating future professionals and intellectuals to be  competent in communication , critical thinking and problem-solving, entrepreneurship  as well as leadership and teamwork. CLHD is also responsible for producing graduates  with  self esteem , integrity, moral values and ICT literacy for  life-long learning.

CLHD, by emphasizing soft skills among the students, is able to help and support the engineering faculties in employing a curriculum in terms of breadth and depth   to increase the marketability of the graduates. This Centre also employs the outcome-based education (OBE)  approach in producing balanced individuals who possess physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual and social attributes. The  academic  and  support staff of CLHD embrace universal values and adhere to the motto; “ Accomplishing  Human Capital of Excellence”.
