Mechanical Engineering Technology focuses primarily on analyzing, applying, implementing and enhancing existing technologies and is aimed at preparing graduates for the practice of engineering closest to the product improvement, industrial practices and engineering operational functions. The Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology (JTKM) is one of four engineering technology departments established under the Faculty of Engineering Technology, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM). Strategically located at the Industrial Campus, Hang Tuah Jaya ,the Department offers engineering technology programs leading to the Bachelor of Engineering Technology in three areas of study: Automotive, Maintenance, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration technology . Presently, there are a combinations of lecturers, teaching engineers and technicians working together under this department, most of them equiped with different areas of expertise and have several years industrial experience.
The aim of this department is to produce highly competent graduates with the technical and communication skills to enter careers with the ability to analyze, design, and implement their knowledge in their career. The Mechanical Engineering Technology graduates from the Faculty of Engineering Technology will have strengths to apply knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering fundamentals to the required procedures, processes, systems and engineering methodologies applied in the industries. The department is also pro-active in ensuring that the quality of teaching & learning which based on application oriented is parallel with the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
