Definition of Credit Hour

In the semester system, each subject is given credit values except for subjects which are determined by the University. Each subject is given credit to show the importance of the contents. The amount of credit represents the effort expected to be performed by students.As a result, students should allocate their study time based on the credit of the subjects. For example, more credits require higher attention. Relationship between credit hour and credit value can be described in the following table;

Credit System for Industrial Training

The duration of Industrial Training for Bachelor Degree Program is 20 weeks and it is given 12 credits which represent the minimum credit hours to be taken by each student for a semester.

The 12 credits of Industrial Training are divided into two parts, i.e. 6 credits allocated for Compulsory Attendance during Industrial Training, while the other 6 credits are allocated for Industrial Training Report.

For Diploma Program, the duration of Industrial Training is 10 weeks and it is given three credits representing Compulsory Attendance during Industrial Training.

Student Learning Time

Student Learning Time (SLT) is the average number of hours that are expected of a normal student to put in for a given credit hour in a 14-week semester. It is a measure of loading for students. The SLT consists of the lecture hours, practical, tutorials, assessment and the hours for self-study. Thus for a three credit-hour subject, the SLT ranges from 120 - 140 hours.
