Introduction

Research in FKEKK has expanded at a tremendous pace and resulted in many research outcomes in the form of product designs and academic publications. The number of staff members especially the young ones who are highly motivated in research activities has increased in numbers over the last few years. The cooperation between these highly motivated young staff members, guided and assisted by the senior members of the staff of vast experience in their respective fields of specialization, has resulted in a strong synergy in research activities in FKEKK.

Instilling excellent research culture among members of the staff through the mentor-mentee approach where the senior members and the junior members work together, coupled with the continuous encouragement and motivation given by the management, has obviously made research work in the faculty an enjoyable and exciting experience in FKEKK.

Up till now, FKEKK has established seven research areas coming under the Telecommunication and Computer Engineering Research Thrust Area as designated by the University. Figure below illustrates the thrust area and the research areas. Specialization to the various fields of research has been created based on the mentor-mentee system to facilitate and spur the researchers to strive and achieve greater height in research activities in FKEKK.
